Being Me

Being Ellie

Today I Appreciate….

  • Being Me … I have come to appreciate and enjoy myself. I truly can say that I love myself and I enjoy my own company!

When I was very young I remember being asked “Who the hell do you think you are?!” … And I remember thinking “Me! Glorious Me!”

As time went on that self love dissipated as it does for so many of us. I got judgmental and critical of me… I see it happen to so many of us – we start to judge our worth by other peoples standards and opinions.

Then I learned to adopt this saying “What other people think of me – is none of my business” and I allowed and embraced the fullness of me. Today if you ask me “Who the hell do you think you are?!” I will enthusiastically answer “Me! Glorious Me!”

I was reminded of this today as I read Abraham’s quote:

If we were standing in your physical shoes, that would be our dominant quest: Entertaining Yourself, pleasing Yourself, connecting with Yourself, being Yourself, enjoying Yourself, loving Yourself. Some say, “Well, Abraham you teach selfishness. And we say, yes we do, yes we do, yes we do, because unless you are selfish enough to reach for that connection, you don’t have anything to give anyone, anyway. And when you are selfish enough to make that connection — you have an enormous gift that you give everywhere you are. ~ Abraham

I appreciate the great maintenance people who work at my apartment complex. Our little walk way was shoveled and salted, which meant I did slip and slide to my car.

I appreciate the radio station that plays holiday music 24 hours a day. When I want to hear holiday music, I tune to it. When I don’t, I tune to something else. There is an optimism in the music that really puts me in a good mood. When it gets to be a little too much I don’t have to listen to it. It is like little shots of sweetness.

I appreciate my friend Marge’s generousity and just being there. I needed a space on short notice to do some work with a client and Marge’s space at Venture Inward was available and affordable. I truly appreciate this resource she offers. The place is filled with a lot of good vibes and peace. I also like supporting Marge and V.I. whenever I can.

I appreciate the wonderful community I belong to. We had our Yule celebration over the weekend and it was fabulous as usual. It was a lot of hard work but so worth it. To see everyone laughing, enjoying themselves and enjoying all the delicious food we all created, really gladdens my heart. It also feels good to belong to something like this.

I appreciate that I am alive. I admit I have days where that doesn’t seem all that great, but I know that what I am feeling is temporary. I look within and see the power and beauty that resides within me. That lifts me up and keeps me going on this journey.

Today I had a few errands that I knew would keep me out for a while. Every place I had to stop, I zipped right through lines – no wait. The last check-out person was very personable and friendly even though she was very busy. Everyone was friendly and greeted me pleasantly. Those people eased my day — especially the last person. Thank you, I appreciate you all.

My preference is to wake up in the morning on my own – not to an alarm clock. Tomorrow will be the 4th day in a row when that is possible. I so appreciate the opportunity for the great sleep.

Maryann, I get such a lift from your posts and appreciate them. Thank you for sharing your appreciations.

I appreciate the great heater in my car which kept me nice a cozy warm all afternoon in my travels.

I appreciate our cat, Missy, who greets me everytime she hears me go into her room. Of course she’s a little hearing challenged and doesn’t always hear me — but that’s fine. She looks so cozy all curled up in her bed at those times.

I appreciate Jim who plows our driveway. We had about 6 inches of snow the other day, and we woke up the next morning to a cleared driveway — like a miracle happened while we were sleeping. Thank you, Jim.

Oh yes, I almost forgot. I remember that picture that you posted Ellie — jumping up on decorative furniture on the cruise ship. I appreciate your craziness and unexpected antics! You certainly are glorious you!
