The Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice the shortest day of the year

Today I Appreciate….

  • Winter Solstice – Monday, December 21 – marked the Winter Solstice – the beginning of winter. Monday was also the shortest day of the year – which means….. As of yesterday, Tuesday – The days are getting longer!! I soooo appreciate that!  😀

So while you might not have yet noticed the day being longer – they are and they will continue to get longer. I Appreciate the Sun! A reader sent me this winter solstice poem which sums it up for me…

Great God of the Sun,
I welcome Your return.
May You shine brightly upon the Goddess;
May You shine brightly upon the Earth,
scattering seeds and fertilizing the land.
All blessings upon You,
Reborn One of the Sun!
Know that you are Blessed. ~ Anonymous

Start your day with Appreciation and you will have a day filled with things to Appreciate.

Oh WOW! Such connection this site brought me to today – how I appreciate that. Hugs from the world from the inside out. One of those things I can’t really put into words, but that picture of winter solstice that you posted, Ellie……it reminds me and brings out something that is soooo delicious to feel. Yes, I am certainly a sun worshipper and adore the warmth of the sun on my skin. At the same time, there is that something that is awakened in me when I see the glow that the bright moon brings to the earth – the glow and the shadows – whether on glistening snow or green grass with lightening bugs – I love it and appreciate it.

I appreciate my work schedule. It is such that by taking one day off, I actually had a week off. It’s wonderful. Thank you, Kathy, my ex-boss for offering me this schedule.

I appreciate the week that was available to be with my Honey and my “kids” – the furry and feathered ones.

Hurray! I appreciate the winter solstice. I love the sunlight

I appreciate my ADD. Although most documents and books consider it a disability, I consider it my daily life reminder that I shouldn’t walk the beaten path and find my own. Its also taught me all my life to not just to work hard, but work smart and never give up.

Now its time to go let the sunshine in :)!

I appreciate the longer days coming up. More sunshine is so restorative!

I appreciate the online shopping. I was able to take care of a last-minute holiday gift. By doing it online I didn’t have to go to a store. Hurrah!

I appreciate that no matter how alone I may feel at times, I know deep down I am not. I am quite lucky.

I appreciate another wonderful parking spot! Hurrah!
